The Masters Collection by Louis Vuitton and Jeff Koons

by Author

Luxury leather goods producer Louis Vuitton continues to perpetuate the adage "Fashion can be art" in it's latest collaboration with acclaimed pop-artist Jeff Koons. Titled “Masters,” this lavish collection features 35 altered masterpieces including handbags, scarves, laptop cases and other accessories.

Koons expresses his mastery of kitsch adorning leather with five classic paintings produced by Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, and Peter Paul Rubens.  Koons and Louis Vuitton intend to "open the museum to the world" and encourage individuals to "experience the old Masters in new ways" according to an official press release.

Released on April 28th with prices ranging from $500 – $4000 USD, “Masters" has joined a long list of collaborations between Louis Vuitton and different artists.  Along with Jeff Koons, Louis Vuitton has famously worked with the likes of Yayoi Kusuma, known for her infinity art, Stephen Sprouse and his graffiti-inspired bags, and Takeshi Murakami among others.
