As the Winter season approaches, dipping temperatures call for warm sweaters, pom-pom toques and colourful mittens as you enjoy your seasonal endeavours. The holiday season is just around the corner and what better way to enjoy it than by visiting select holiday attractions around Toronto this winter.

Christmas Markets

Having already begun on the 18th of November, you will fall in love with the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District until it’s final date on December 22nd. Recent appeal is due to a culmination of its remarkably charming atmosphere coupled with its quaint simplicity; perfect for date night.

  

While the Christmas Market at the Distillery District taps into one’s nostalgia for the winter season, there are other spots worth checking out around the city. Set to begin on December 8th, the Holiday Fair at Nathan Phillip Square is sure to treat all visitors until it’s final day on December 23rd.  Shopping, rides, food, drinks and a chance to meet Santa Claus are just a few of the many attractions to look forward to. Located in the core of Downtown Toronto, this Christmas Market will appeal to attendees through it’s traditional holiday feel and intoxicating festive spirit.

The Union Station Holiday Market offers an experience like no other. For 12 days, from December 5th to the 16th, a collection of local vendors will gather within the upper floor of Toronto’s transportation hub, attracting a bustling crowd. Visitors can indulge in the unique offering of specialty vendors, including a variety of retail, designer, food, drink, cultural organizations and artisanal offerings.

Window Displays

Christmas Market’s scattered across Toronto aren’t the only holiday attractions to seek in the city this winter season. The extravagant window display at Saks 5th avenue is a must see in Toronto this holiday season.

Saks 5th Avenue Canada Holiday Windows

With their own unique, fashion-inspired take, Saks is taking on this magical tradition, infamously executed each year by Hudson’s Bay along their Queen Street windows. The whimsical nature of each display is a sight to see, surely captivating the eyes of passersby. Mariah Carey was even a musical guest at this year’s opening, making it an unforgettable experience! Having already begun on November 3rd, Saks’ holiday windows will be on display until January 3rd of the new year.

The Nutcracker

A must-see event coming this holiday season is The Nutcracker, by the National Ballet of Canada. Integral to your holiday experience, audiences will indulge in the magic of this classic performance as this nostalgic story is brought to life in front of your eyes.

From December 10th to the 31st, The Nutcracker will enchant people of all ages with it’s timeless wonderment. Given high praise by critics and audiences year after year, this adaptation by The National Ballet of Canada is both gripping and spectacular and will surely not disappoint.
