Men’s Watches: Selecting the Perfect Statement Piece

by Author

Watches do so much more than keep time. They complete your outfit, make you stand out from a crowd, create a statement about who you are. Many men own no jewelry other than their watches, so choosing the right one is of extreme importance.

When hunting for your next timepiece, ensure that the face is not too large or too small for your wrist. It is also important to decide if you’re buying the watch for a specific occasion, for work, or casual wear. Is this a piece that needs to be versatile, noticeable or both?

Below are just a few watches you may want to consider adding to your collection.

Classic

While the Omega Seamaster 300 is designed to function above and below water, it also makes for an extremely attractive classic piece of jewelry. Omega just released a special James Bond 007 50th Anniversary Seamaster Co-Axial 300M in two sizes to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the movie franchise. The lacquered black dial features a 007 monogram and the ceramic bezel rings have diving scales for underwater explorers. The larger 41 mm version has 11 applied indexes while the the 36.25 mm watch has ten with a diamond index at the 7 o'clock position.

Special Occasion

The 50th Anniversary Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is certainly fitting for a milestone event or significant anniversary. Made of platinum and decorated with a chestnut brown Cerachrom bezel and ice blue dial, this Rolex is a must-have for any seasoned watch collectors.

Bold

The Big Bang Chrono Perpetual Calendar is nothing if not bold. Swiss watchmaker Hublot has perfectly blended classic with contemporary in this King Gold watch. Stunning and smart, it keeps track of the chronograph, the perpetual calendar and the moon phase.

Contemporary

Clean, sleek and minimal, Jacob Jensen’s Curve Series watches are versatile and perfect for the modern man. These watches are actually unisex, and the strap can easily be altered because the casing is not connected to it.

Smart

Smartwatches are becoming increasingly popular as they have the potential to help us be more productive and efficient. However, the average smartwatch looks a bit tacky when paired with a suit. Not the Apple Watch Hermès though. This sophisticated piece is both intelligent and beautiful, hardworking and captivating. The watch has three different leather straps and the watch face can be customized.
